Dawn Illusions

Photography by Michael Marcelle

Daybreak on any beach offers seductive illusion: that of solitude. It could be argued that this guise is the best part of dawn patrol, allowing us the ability see, explore and experience an often familiar world in a new and intimate way. Even if surrounded by other floating bodies, the quietness and calm of the still-sleepy surroundings are a welcome break (and start to) the frenzied days of city living. We asked photographer Michael Marcelle to document this hour during a special time: the off season at the Jersey shore.
